Smart happenings the week of February 25, 2012:
Smart Skies for Stargazers: If you like looking to the stars when the sun sets to slumber, you will delight in the night on Saturday and Sunday. Jupiter, Venus and the moon will all be close to one another, and the two planetary heavenly bodies will be easily recognizable by the naked eye.
Venus will appear as the bright light closest to the moon on Saturday. Sunday, Jupiter will shine brightest when it takes its turn doing the do si do with the pie in the sky. Both will be visible on each night.
The event will be broadcast live from the online Slooh Space Camera. Live streaming starts at 9:30 p.m. ET on Saturday and Sunday.
Eat Healthy Without Being Disgusted: Flaxseed. The first thing that comes to mind when hearing that word is not “yummy”. The addition of flaxseed to cinnamon raisin bagels on the other hand might not be so disgusting. Apparently it does not affect the flavor — and that is good news for people looking to lower their LDL cholesterol levels.
This ingredient has been reported to help lower cholesterol, decrease blood pressure levels and reduce inflammatory markers involved in hardening of the arteries.
Which of these factoids do you think is the smartest thing that happened this week? Tell us why you think so!
