Among the shows coming out this year, FOX and ABC have the most promising bunch of start-ups with productions like The Finder, Alcatraz, Touch, Missing and The River boasting well-known actors and solid story lines.

|The Finder||From the creator of the hit-series Bones, The Finder follows an interesting guy (Walter Sherman, She’s Out of My League) that can pretty much find anything, anywhere, anytime. He gained this special ability after he suffered brain damage from an explosion while serving in the Army Military Police. Now he uses his gift to help others find things they have lost, working out of his home base in Key West with his two sidekicks — Ike Latulippe (Saffron Burrows, Law & Order: Criminal Intent) and Leo Knox (Michael Clarke Duncan, The Green Mile).

|The Fades||In this coming-of-age story 17 year-old geek Paul (Iain De Caestecker, Young Herriot) is haunted by apocalyptic dreams that his therapist can’t explain. Neither can best friend and fellow social outcast, Mac (Daniel Kaluuya, Johnny English Reborn), or unsympathetic and much cooler twin sister, Anna (Lily Loveless, Skins). But trying to fit in becomes the least of Paul and Mac’s worries, as Paul’s horrific dreams become a reality and they are embroiled in a battle between the living and the dead. Think video game FEAR 3 meets a PG-rated version of TV show Skins meets video game .

|Lost Girl||Anna Silk (The Ghost Whisperer) stars as seductress Bo, a Succubus (a powerful female entity in folklore) who feeds off sexual energy. Raised by human parents, Bo had no reason to believe she was anything other than the girl next door — until she “drained” her first boyfriend to death. Now she must learn about her origins, decide on her alliances with others like her and come to terms with what she is.

|Alcatraz||From executive producer J.J. Abrams (Fringe, Star Trek), Alcatraz centers on three investigators, FBI agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neil, Jurassic Park), San Francisco Detective Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones, Sons of Anarchy) and Alcatraz expert and comic book enthusiast Dr. Diego Soto (Jorge Garcia, Lost), trying to solve the mysterious re-appearance of 302 of Alcatraz’s most notorious prisoners and guards 50 years after they vanished.

|Remodeled||Modeling industry veteran Paul Fisher is planning to bring together hundreds of small agencies around the world in a new venture called The Network. The Network will give Paul the leverage to change the industry from the inside out. He has two missions: to make sure agents in small towns no longer get screwed, and to empower models to take control of their careers and lead healthier lives.

|Touch||Blending science, spirituality and emotion, Touch follows seemingly unrelated people all over the world whose lives affect each other in ways seen and unseen, known and unknown. At the story’s center is Martin Bohm (Kiefer Sutherland, 24), a widower and single father, haunted by an inability to connect to his emotionally challenged 11 year-old son, Jake (David Mazouz, Criminal Minds). Jake is obsessed with numbers – writing long strings of them in his notebooks – and with discarded cell phones.

|The River||A show about a famous explorer who goes missing in the Amazon and his family’s attempt to find him. The series includes elements of several popular TV genres of the moment: documentary, horror, and the paranormal.

|Missing||Ashley Judd plays a mother whose son disappears in Italy, where he has a summer internship. The twist: she’s an ex-CIA agent, so she has plenty of skills at her disposal as she tracks him down.
