If you are a fan of music you know the GRAMMYs are almost upon us. This year you can watch the entire event either from the comfort of your own home, your computer with the GRAMMY Live website, or on the go with your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad via the GRAMMY Live mobile app. This app is available for download now, and will give users a backstage pass to Music’s Biggest Night.
GRAMMY Live gives its audience access to exclusive behind-the-scenes GRAMMY cam video footage, interviews, backstage events, official news reports, blogs, social interaction and other goodies starting as early as Friday, February 10 @ 2 p.m PT. The entertaining news reports and updates will be hosted on GRAMMY Live by Alison Haislip, Drew Hinze, and John Norris.
Live viewers will also be provided footage from the Social Media Rock Stars Summit, MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute honoring Paul McCartney, Special Merit Awards Ceremony & Nominees Reception, the Pre-GRAMMY Gala, and an exclusive live performance by Almost Kings, winners of CBS.com’s From Your Garage To GRAMMY Live contest.
The GRAMMYs will sing its song for the 54th time this Sunday, February 12 @ 8 p.m. on CBS. Before that GRAMMY Live subscribers will have first-row seats to red-carpet arrivals, the Pre-Telecast Ceremony and the official GRAMMY Celebration after-party. Behind-the-scenes footage will continue throughout the live show, offering viewers a “dual-screen” experience, with red-carpet coverage, backstage interviews, exclusive photo sessions with winners (with renowned photographer Danny Clinch), press room question-and-answer sessions, and past GRAMMY moments.
If that isn’t enough, online viewers can check-in to “GRAMMY Live” via GetGlue during the three-day webcast to unlock an exclusive sticker. Mobile app users will also be able to have some fun with GRAMMY trivia as part of their GRAMMY Live experience. The app also has a “Guess the Winner” interactive poll feature where fans can vote on who they think will win in each of the 20 categories.
This also ties into built-in social functionality integrated with Twitter, allowing fans to tweet, retweet and follow the GRAMMY conversation in real-time via the official @TheGRAMMYs Twitter account. Seriously – is there more? Yes, there is … users can also follow live music streams of the night’s contenders via the GRAMMY Radio. This is a free app available for iPhone and Android (called The GRAMMYs on Anroid market) users.
This year, for those on the GRAMMY front, it is all about connecting with the audience and trying to really make it a social event. Evan Greene, Chief Marketing Officer for The Recording Academy says, “We connect with music in very personal ways, and through shared, social experiences, fans are more eager than ever to support and follow their favorite artists in new and exciting ways.”
Marc DeBevoise, senior vice president and general manager of entertainment at CBS Interactive says, “By making this program available in so many ways, we’re catering to all music fans, giving them an exclusive virtual ticket to the biggest music event of the year on any device.”
And that they are! No matter where you are you have no excuse not to be watching the GRAMMYs this year. Who are your top picks?
